Students Exchange Programme by the Education Department:

As it has been rightly said,

“ The use of travelling is to regulate imagination by reality and instead of thinking how things may be, to see them as they are”

                                                                                                                  ------Samuel Johnson

Education is a social process and it differs from place to place. The task of imparting education and the problems faced during the process in the urban school is totally different from that in the rural school. Thus keeping in mind this idea the following objectives were framed

·          To bring students on one common platform

·         Share their experiences and learn from each other

·         Make the rural students aware of the methods of teaching

·         Bridging the gap between the rural and urban education

A Students Exchange Programme  between the urban and rural school was thus planned by the Education Department. The main aim of this programme is to make the students aware about the challenges faced by the rural school and to provide an opportunity to interact with students with different cultural backgrounds.

Hence to fulfil this objective, Head Mistress Miss Fauzia  Ansari  invited S.K. Choudhari Memorial High School, V-Medhe, T-Vasai, D-Palghar  to visit  our  school on 29th January,2016  along  with 30 students, 3 teachers and their Head . They reached our school sharp at 10:00 am. The students were provided with mid day meal by our school. Then they were accompanied by some of our students to have a glimpse of our school. Later, the students were divided in groups and they observed the lessons of our teachers. Miss  Sybal taught a Marathi poem ‘Chinch’, our science teacher Miss Amina Patni taught a lesson on Social Environment’  in Std 6 by means of Audio Visual Aid and Miss Shagufta, class teacher of Std 6th taught a science chapter ‘Our Environment’ through Powerpoint Presentation where they received knowledge of learning through various technologies. As these students were from a vernacular medium, our teachers explained  the lessons in a very effective and simple manner so that the students could understand it. The students were very happy and enjoyed watching Audio Visual Aids

Apart from the spiritual goals, the physical postures of yoga are used to alleviate health problems, reduce stress and make the spine supple in contemporary times. Yoga is also used as a complete exercise program and physical therapy routine.

So, after lesson observations they were taken to the school ground for Yoga wherein our Physical Education teacher Mrs Smita Rodriques taught them various Yoga poses (Exercises) such as Padmasan,Parvatasan, Tadasan and Garudasan  along with some of our students . Then they were given an opportunity to play some games like kho kho ,etc with our school students . They enjoyed the various games taught by our students. Between 1:00 to 1:30 p.m. they were provided lunch by our school in the city style kind of set up . The students seemed to be very happy and enthusiastic

A high quality school assembly is one of the most important aspects of a school's curriculum. Its potential to nurture a positive school ethos that stresses care for the self, others and the pursuit of all forms of excellence should not be underestimated. It powerfully nurtures the development of intrapersonal intelligence. An assembly is when the school community, or a part of it, meets together to share aspects of life that are of worth. It acts as a medium for communicating matters of significance from one generation to another.

Thus keeping this in mind, an Assembly was conducted by the students of Std 5th. It began with a short prayer with its translation, followed by a Hindi story ‘jaisi karni waisi bharni’ where the idea of good deeds never go waste was depicted in the story, Marathi pledge was read by one of our student, followed by Tarana-e- Anjuman. Finally National Anthem was played at the end.

Our Art teacher Mrs Neha Mokal taught Warli painting and Card Making to our partner school students. The students were so involved in the activity and were eager to learn the paper quilling art as it was totally a new concept for them.

handicraft, sometimes more precisely expressed as artisanal handicraft or handmade, is any of a wide variety of types of work where useful and decorative objects are made completely by hand or by using only simple tools.

Our Art teacher also exhibited the handi crafts of Maharashtra as well as Assam, the students were taken around to see these exhibits. A wide variety of decorative things were displayed.

Later students of both the schools put up a great cultural show .  The students of our school sang an Islamic song  ‘Ya Toyba’ and  performed a drama on Munna Bhai, whereas  the partner school   students performed a wonderful tribal dance and a song .

The students of both the schools exchanged the cards prepared by them.

The students and teachers had an informal interaction with each other. They discussed about their schools. Feedbacks were taken by the students, teachers  as well as the H.M.

Last but not the least , a group  photograph was taken to  cherish the memories .

After the successful completion of the reciprocal visit by our partner school and keeping the same objectives in mind, our school, Anjuman I Islam’s Begum Sharifa Kalsekar Girls’ English High School made its exchange visit to S K Chaudhary Memorial, Adivasi Ashram School on 3rd February,2016 along with 3 teachers and 30 students.

They reached the school sharp at 10:30 a.m. The students were served traditional Maharashtrian breakfast. After that the students of our partner school taught our students to make handmade cards with authentic warli painting on them as they belong to the Warli Adivasi tribes and are expert in their skill.

Many children love to play outdoors, but sometimes they need a helping hand with ideas to get them started. Same was the condition of our students. The students of both the schools played kabbadi and Kho kho.  Our students enjoyed playing  games and learned how to actually play them because these games were new to them.

Then it was followed by a wonderful cultural programme set up by both the schools. The students of Ashram School performed a beautiful tribal dance and a tribal song. Our students performed Choral Recitation based on a global theme ‘We are the Children of Yesterday’s Dream’. After that the students taught our students their famous ‘Tarpa Dance’. Tarpa dance is an extremely popular dance of Dadra and Nagar Haveli. It is mainly a tribal dance. The dance performances are usually done on moonlit nights.

With the musical accompaniment of a wind instrument named Tarpa, the dancers encircle the ‘Tarpakar’ and they dance past mid night. The dance performed by the villagers is a true mirror to their unity and coordination. All the participants join hands and swing in circles while singing themselves. Our students as well as teachers participated with full enthusiasm and enjoyed a lot.

After the cultural programme, lunch was provided by the school which was cooked by the teachers themselves. The students of our school enjoyed the typical adivasi lunch which was prepared by the teachers. The staff and the students were deeply touched by the warmth and feedback received from them.

Later students of both the schools exchanged cards prepared by them. Our students also organized fun and fair as a part of fundraising event for our partner school. The collection thus raised was handed to the School’s Head to be utilized for the students’ welfare and school requirements.

Our teachers and students then gave a vote of thanks to our wonderful partner school for the commendable organization of the reciprocal visit and for providing them such a memorable experience of a lifetime.

In this manner we were able to successfully complete our reciprocal visits. Thus giving the students an opportunity to develop critical thinking, ability to develop interpersonal relationship and above all to develop a stereoscopic vision of the world from different perceptions.
