ACADEMICS

GEOGRAPHY OLYMPIAD (Geo Genius)

The Geography Olympiad Examination (Conducted by IBGB Learning Society) was held on 16th December 2011 at Anjuman –I-Islam’s Begum Sharifa Kalsekar Girls’ English school. It was organized at the State Level in various Schools across India. Out of which, 84 students from STD V to VIII from our school had appeared for this examination.

Results for the same were declared on 16th February. It gives us immense pleasure to announce that amongst the 50 students who have been selected across India, our student Keriwala Masirah from STD VI has been selected for the Final Round at the National Level. She will be appearing for the final round on15th April in Kota (Rajasthan).The examination willbe held in 2 phases, 1st phase will have a writtenexamination and the other will be orals as well as written. The 1st, 2nd & 3rd winners in theChampion Round will be awarded a laptop, digital camera and wrist watch respectively and also certificates.

At the School level we had 3 winners in junior and senior category respectively. They have been awarded by gold, silver and bronze medals respectively and other participants received participation certificates.

Best Teacher Award

We are extremely proud to announce that our very talented Supervisor Miss Ayesha  Khan has been awarded with the best teacher award by Al Jammatul Muslemeen;  The Secular Education  Society  Mahim on  their 54th Annual Prizes and Award function which was held on 19th February 2012 at Bandra Anjuman.

24th January: Inter-School Band Competition at Essel World

The band group of our school was taken to Essel World to participate in band display competition.

The group stood 2nd in the competition and received a MOMENTO.

It was a remarkable achievement for the students and the school.

24th January: Tiger Fest

‘Kids for Tigers’ had organized ‘Tiger Fest’ for different schools all over Mumbai. There were many categories in which our students had participated .The categories were information stall, best out of waste, games stall, quiz, etc. We won three prizes in 2 different categories.

 3rd prize for ‘Information Stall’: Our students had prepared a working model based on ‘hair boon’ .The Participants were

We also won 2nd prize for ‘Best out of Waste’. Ansari Uzma Niya Ahmed from Std VIII shemade a beautiful bird’s nest out of old news paper highlighting the diminishing number of sparrows in the city.

 We won the 3rd prize again for ‘Best out of Waste’. Ansari Taibah Hafizurrehman from Std VIII made a tiger and a cave out of stone emphasizing on the danger our National Animal is facing. 

Republic Day:

Republic day was celebrated with great joy and pride in our school.

 There were speeches, songs and dance. Inter Anjuman Band and Road Safety Patrol [R.S.P] March Past Competition was held at our Head office i.e. our Anjuman-I-Islam school at C.S.T wherein all Anjuman-I-Islam’s group of schools had participated. 25 Students from our school had participated in Road Safety Patrol [R.S.P] and we won 1st Prize for our Road Safety Patrol [R.S.P].

Anjuman Girls Bag ‘Top Honours at Symbolic Theatre’

PVR Nest’s young expression is the first ever leadership program to educate and empower children on complex issues concerning their life family society, environment, school etc. through the wonderful and creative medium of cinema and art.

Young expression program leadership module is an innovative educational leadership module amongst the school teachers. Increased environmental awareness and a greater focus on schooling in an environmental sensitive and active manner have made it essential to work on the role of school leaders amidst both the teachers and students. The leadership module will produce a significant body of knowledge and action points in the specific context of urban space – “Our city, Our Park”.

On 28th Feb, 2012 the enthusiastic and energetic students of Anjuman-I-Islam’s Begum Sharifa Kalsekar  Girls’ English  School had won a trophy for symbolic theatre. The talented students had performed a mine play with masks and puppets. This fabulous play was judged by the famous celebrities Abhay Deol and Amol Gupte. The show was held at P.V.R. cinema, near phoenix mill. The students were overjoyed to meet the celebrities and display their talents to such an audience that valued performing arts so much.

Ansari Samrin, Patel Misba, Ansari Mehvish and Ansari Rabaa, Hajwani Amena and Shaikh Zeenat of Standard IX and VII respectively had participated in the play. They had attended a two day workshop on acting skills. The workshop was held on 17th & 18th of Feb. at Versova.

The in charge teacher Miss Nazneen had sensitized the students by showing them wall –E movie. After that she had worked dedicatedly and rigorously to prepare a fantastic play on globalization and had sent the recording of the same to the P.V.R. Amongst 40 schools, 5 schools were short –listed and further trained by the expert of performing arts, Mr. Niraj Kabee. Amongst these five schools that performed for the main event, only two were selected as the best.

Armed Force Flag Daywas celebrated in our school wherein forms were distributed in our school by the Government of India to collect money from the citizens of India for the upliftment of the retired armed forced soldiers. Our students tried hard in collecting money for them and it is our privilege to announce that our school stood 2 in south Zone ward.


30th June Inter Anjuman Essay Writing Competition For Teachers.

Inter Anjuman Essay Writing Competition For Teachers were held in Begum Sharifa Kalsekar School. The three top scoring teachers from each school participated in this competition The categories were Under Graduates,Graduates,and Post Graduates. The topic was ‘Role of a Teacher In 21st Century’. Two of our teachers won the Prize. Miss Fehmin won the second prize from Under Graduates category and Miss Ayesha won the 2ND Prize from Post Graduate category.

 

3rd April – 13th April:-Visitors from UK

Mr. Larner and Mrs. Kaur from our UK Partner School North Leamington School visited our school for G.C.P. During their stay they really had a very good memorable experience in knowing our school. Our teachers had organized a short program for them followed by interaction with the staff and the students. They shared their views and experiences with our teachers. They even observed few of our lessons which they highly appreciated. Our guest also had’ Mumbai Darshan’. They visited all religious places and the famous places of our Mumbai city. Indeed it was a very different and enriching experience for our teachers as well as for them.

Spell Bee Competition

It is a matter of great pride as two of our students, Ansari Shariah Mohammed Yusuf of STD IX and Ansari Quba Mohammed Yusuf of STD VI have been Qualified for ‘Mars International Spell Bee 2011-2012 Inter-school Oral and State Written Competition’. The competition for category V was held on 8th July 2012 i.e. Sunday at Pinnacle High International School, Malad and for Category IV on 21st July 2012 at the same venue.

4TH, 5TH, & 6TH August INSPIRE AWARD

‘THE INSPIRE AWARD' organized by the Education Department was Held at Abhyudaya High School. Two of our students had participated in this Competition. There were two categories Junior and Senior. The junior group Project was made by Ms. Nida Fruitwala from Std X under the guidance of Ms.Mubashira Shaikh. They had made an” Eco Friendly Green House” out of used plastic bottles. The senior group project was made by our ex-student Ms.Affra Naushin Shaikh under the guidance of Ms. Sumaiya Khan. She made a “Solar Powered Refrigerator”. Our senior group project i.e. Solar Powered Refrigerator qualified the ward level competition and is selected to compete at the state level.

4th August Inter Anjuman Elocution Competition

Inter Anjuman Elocution competition was held at C.S.T Anjuman wherein some students from our school had taken part. There were two categories junior and senior. The topic for junior group was ‘I too have a dream’. And Khan Amina Arif from STD VIII won 1st Prize. And from senior group Ansari Humda Anwar won the 1st Prize for the topic ‘Universe Is Colorless without Women’.  And Qureshi Javeria Athar Salim won the 2nd Prize for the topic ‘Save Water Save Life ’.

22nd August National Science Seminar.

National Science Seminar organized by the Education Department Was held at Navbharat Vidhyalaya at Parel.It was held at the ward level and The topic of elocution was ‘Mathematics in India: Past, Present and Future.The seminar was organized by National Council of Science Museums, Ministry Of Culture, and Government of India. Our student Miss Hafiya Siddique of Std X participated in this competition and secured second position and now She will be participating at district level and the student who qualifies the National Level will get a scholarship of RS.2000 per month. The objective of this seminar is to provide a platform to the budding scientists for exchanging Ideas and developing scientific attitude.

11th September Inter Anjuman Poetry Recitation and Nazm Khawni.

Inter Anjuman Poetry Recitation and Nazm Khawni was organized in our School wherein the students from all over Anjuman had taken part in their Respective category. Urdu medium schools had Nazm Khawni and English Medium School had Poem Recitation competition. There were two groups Group I and Group II and each group had two participants of every school. Our Four students had participated in Poem Recitation competition and all of them have won in both the categories. In Group I 1ST Prize secured by Shaikh Sakina from Std V and 2nd Prize was honored to Shaikh Umama Kalim from Std VI and in Group II 1st Prize received by Khan Amina Arif of Std VII and 2nd Prize was honored to Siddique Naveda of Std VIII.

4th October Inter Anjuman Elocution competition:-

Elocution competition was held at C.S.T Anjuman School. All Anjuman-I-Islam’s Group of schools had participated in this competition. Six of our students participated in this competition and four of our students won prizes in their respective groups. From group I Shaikh Sakina from Std V secured the 1st Prize. From group II,Khan Amina Arif from Std VII also received 1st Prize and from group III Ansari Humda Anwar from Std X secured the 1st Prize and Qureshi Juveria Athar from Std IX secured the 2nd Prize respectively.

Spell Linc competition

It is proud to inform that three of our students i.e.Qureshi Javeria Athar and Ansar Shariah of Std IX A and Khan Amina Arif of Std VII A have reached the grand finale of Spell Linc Competition which is going to be held on 19 Dec,2012. 

Workshop at Mahindra and Mahindra’s

Ms. Fehmin and Ms.Neha attended a workshop at Mahindra and Mahindra’s on 16th Dec for project on “A Word In Motion”.In this project the students of std 6 had to make a Jet Toy Model Cars and then they have competed with other schools at different levels .It gives me great pleasure to announce that four of our students Khan Anzala ,Balbale Unaiza,Ansari Mariam,Ansari Zubiya stood 3rd in making the project.

Non- Academics

15th July- ‘Tigerthon ’

On July 15, 2012, NDTV held their annual Tiger Thorn at 12 hour Marathon fund raising event to save the tiger and its forests. NDTV had partnered with KIDS FOR TIGERS, the sanctuary tiger programme supported By Aircel and the Nehru Science Centre for the Mumbai Segment of the year. Our School Anjuman-I- Islam’s Begum Sharifa Kalsekar Girls’ English High School attended the Tigerthon and took part in the events such as drawing Competition, face painting competition and street play. The competitions were divided into different time slots. It was a team of 12 students and 2 teachers Ms. Sheetal Pansare and Mrs. Naina Sakpal, who witnessed this fabulous Experience, which honoured the various talents among children. The theme For drawing competition was “The tiger’s jungle whereas for face paintingThe theme was ‘Wild animals of India’. From our School our student, Madiha Shaikh was honored. It was a great pleasure and honor for our school to win this prize as it was a Tough competition amongst twenty wonderful schools of Mumbai.
